Sync your 1-on-1s with your calendar

Once the calendar integration is enabled, managers can seamlessly sync their 1-on-1 meetings with their preferred calendar.

Aboard can automatically add scheduled 1-1 meetings to your calendar, so both managers and team members have the meeting time, agenda link, and optional video meeting details in one place.


Before you start

Calendar sync needs to be set up in two places:

  1. An admin connects the company calendar integration

  2. Each manager enables calendar sync in their own Meeting preferences

If you don’t see the calendar sync options in your Meeting preferences, your company calendar connection may not be set up yet, or your calendar account may not be connected.


Step 1: Connect the company calendar integration

This step needs to be done by a company admin.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Open Integrations

  3. Select Calendar

  4. Click Connect

  5. Follow the Cronofy connection flow to connect your company calendar provider

Once connected, Aboard can manage calendar access for employees through the Calendar integration page. Admins can see which employees are:

  • Connected

  • Disconnected

  • Pending

If an employee is disconnected, an admin can reconnect them from this page.


Step 2: Enable calendar sync for your 1-1s

Once your calendar account is connected, each manager can turn on calendar sync for their own 1-1 meetings.

  1. Go to 1-on-1

  2. Open Meeting preferences using the cog icon

  3. Find the Calendar sync section

  4. Turn Enabled on

  5. Choose the calendar where Aboard should add your 1-1 meetings

  6. Save your changes

Aboard will use this selected calendar for 1-1 meetings that you schedule in Aboard.


What gets added to the calendar?

When a 1-1 is scheduled in Aboard, Aboard creates a calendar event with:

  • The meeting title

  • The meeting time and duration

  • A link back to the 1-1 agenda in Aboard

  • The meeting description, if one has been added

  • The team member as an invited attendee, if they have an email address in Aboard

If the meeting is rescheduled in Aboard, the calendar event is updated. If the meeting is cancelled or removed, the calendar event is deleted.


Optional: Add video conferencing

If your company calendar integration supports it, managers can also enable video conferencing from the same Meeting preferences page.

  1. Go to 1-on-1

  2. Open Meeting preferences

  3. Under Calendar sync, make sure sync is enabled

  4. Turn on Video conferencing

When enabled, Aboard will add video conferencing details to 1-1 meetings scheduled in Aboard.


Troubleshooting

I don’t see the Calendar sync section

This usually means your calendar account is not connected yet. Ask a company admin to check Settings → Integrations → Calendar and confirm your account is connected.

I can’t choose a calendar

Calendar selection is only available after Calendar sync is enabled in your Meeting preferences.

My 1-1 did not appear in my calendar

Check that:

  • Your company calendar integration is connected

  • Your own calendar account is connected

  • Calendar sync is enabled in your Meeting preferences

  • A calendar has been selected

  • The 1-1 was scheduled in Aboard

The team member did not receive a calendar invite

Aboard invites the team member using the email address on their profile. Make sure the employee has a work or personal email address added in Aboard.
