What is AI Analytics?
AI Analytics is an intelligent assistant built into Aboard that helps you explore and understand your organization's workforce data through natural conversation. Instead of navigating through multiple reports and charts, you can simply ask questions in plain English or Swedish and get instant, visual answers.
Think of Co-pilot as your personal HR data analyst β always available in the Analytics section to help you uncover insights about headcount, turnover, team composition, absences, and more.
Getting started
Enabling AI Analytics
Before you can use AI Analytics, an administrator needs to enable the feature for your organization.
To enable AI Analytics:
Go to Settings in the main navigation
Select Co-pilot from the settings menu
Click on Analytics under the Add-ons section
Toggle the Enable add-on switch to turn on the feature
How to use AI Analytics
Accessing Co-pilot
Navigate to Analytics from the main menu
You'll see the analytics dashboard with tabs for Overview, Salaries, Time-off, eNPS, and Reports
Click the Ask Co-pilot button in the top-right area of the tab bar
The Co-pilot panel
When you click "Ask Co-pilot", a sidebar panel opens on the right side of your screen. This panel includes:
Welcome message: Co-pilot greets you with "Hi there! I'm Co-pilot, Aboard's AI assistant. Ask me anything."
Suggested questions: Quick-start questions you can click to get immediate insights
Text input area: Type your own questions (up to 500 characters)
Send button: Submit your question
Asking questions
You can ask questions in natural, everyday language. Co-pilot understands context and can answer questions about your workforce data. Here are some examples organized by category:
Headcount & growth:
"What is our current headcount?"
"How has our team grown over the last 6 months?"
"How many employees did we have at the start of the year?"

Understanding responses
Co-pilot responds with:
Concise text explanations: Direct answers leading with the key number or insight
Visual charts: Interactive charts (bar charts, line charts, pie charts, doughnut charts) to visualize the data
Follow-up offers: After showing a chart, Co-pilot may offer "Would you like to see the details in a table?" or suggest related questions
Starting a new conversation
To clear your conversation history and start fresh:
Click the pen/notepad icon in the top-right corner of the Co-pilot panel
This creates a new conversation, clearing all previous messages
Closing the panel
Click the X button in the top-right corner of the Co-pilot panel to close it. Your conversation is saved, so you can pick up where you left off when you reopen the panel.

Workforce trends
Analyze headcount changes, turnover rates, and growth patterns over time. Understand how your organization has evolved and identify trends.
Team insights
Get a clear picture of team composition, department sizes, and organizational structure. See how employees are distributed across your company.
Custom queries
Ask specific questions about your data and receive tailored answers. Co-pilot adapts to your unique questions and provides relevant insights.
Absence analysis
Understand time-off patterns, including which types of leave are most used and how absences trend over time. You can also ask about specific employees' absence history.
Performance metrics
Track performance review completion rates, goal progress, and employee engagement through eNPS scores.
Salary insights
Analyze salary distributions across departments, locations, and job titles. Compare compensation across different segments of your workforce.
Best practices
Be specific
The more specific your question, the better the answer. Instead of "How are we doing?", try "What was our turnover rate in Q3 compared to Q2?"
Use time frames
Include time periods in your questions for more relevant insights:
"this quarter"
"last 6 months"
"year to date"
"compared to last year"
"in the last 90 days"
Ask follow-up questions
Co-pilot remembers your conversation context. After getting an initial answer, you can ask follow-up questions like "Break that down by department" or "What about last year?"

If you're not sure what to ask, click one of the suggested questions to get started. These are designed to surface common, valuable insights.
Use natural language
You don't need to use technical terms. Ask questions the way you would ask a colleague. Co-pilot understands context and will interpret your questions appropriately.

Troubleshooting & FAQ
"Co-pilot is not enabled for this account"
This message appears when the AI Analytics feature hasn't been enabled for your organization. Contact your administrator to enable it in Settings > Co-pilot > Analytics.
My question isn't being answered
Make sure your question is under 500 characters
Try rephrasing your question to be more specific
Check that you're asking about data that exists in your Aboard system
Ensure you're asking about HR analytics topics (Co-pilot focuses on workforce data)
The panel isn't opening
Refresh the page and try clicking "Ask Co-pilot" again
Ensure you have admin permissions to access Analytics
Check your internet connection
I'm seeing an error message
If Co-pilot displays an error, try:
Waiting a moment and asking your question again
Starting a new conversation using the new conversation button
Refreshing the Analytics page
Who can use AI Analytics?
AI Analytics is only available to users with admin permissions. Managers and regular employees do not have access to the Co-pilot analytics feature. This ensures sensitive workforce data is only accessible to authorized personnel.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Co-pilot only analyzes data within your organization's Aboard account. Your workforce data is:
Never shared with other organizations
Not used to train AI models
Protected by enterprise-grade security measures
Filtered to only show data you're authorized to access
What data can Co-pilot access?
Co-pilot can analyze:
Employee headcount and demographics
Department and team structures
Hiring and termination data
Time-off and absence records
Performance review data and goal progress
Salary information, anonymised
eNPS survey results
Skills and certifications
Time tracking data
Event attendance
1:1 meeting frequency
Can I ask about specific employees?
Yes, you can ask questions about specific employees, such as their absence history or tenure. However, highly sensitive personal information (like passport numbers or medical records) is protected and not accessible through Co-pilot.
What languages does Co-pilot support?
Co-pilot responds in the same language you use to ask your question. If you write in Swedish, it will respond in Swedish. If you write in English, it will respond in English.
Can I export the charts?
Currently, charts are displayed within the Co-pilot panel. If you need the underlying data, you can ask Co-pilot to "show the details in a table" after viewing a chart.
Providing feedback
When you receive an answer, you can hover over the message to show a thumbs up and thumbs down button.
